Due to a kind of spiritual consumerism, the message of the gospel is being packaged for a specific audience: professing but non-practising Christians. Week after week, they listen to sermons on deliverance, healing, prosperity and holiness, never delving into the meat of the gospel. There is a danger in the messages and doctrines that revolve around these isolated aspects of the gospel. Such teachings, while not irrelevant, are overemphasised in today's churches, thus creating spiritual imbalance. In the same way that nutritional imbalance stunts physical growth and development, spiritual imbalance hinders growth to spiritual maturity. These issues are at the heart of A Handbook of Practical Christianity. Basing his text on the book of James, author Albert G. P. Omotayo presents the gospel in its true nature: practicable and simple, but not simplistic.
"Lessons in Truth: A Course of Twelve Lessons in Practical Christianity" is the core text on Unity Church teachings and it is one of the best representatives of New Thought philosophy. The spiritual models presented in Dr. Cady's lessons show us how to enhance our confidence and inner power, and improve our spiritual development. In the beginning of 1892, a series of articles titled Lessons in Truth by Dr. Cady were published in Unity magazine. This material later was compiled into a book and it was the first book Unity published. It is now the most widely read book in that movement and it has been translated into eleven languages and braille. Harriet Emilie Cady (1848-1941) was an American homeopathic physician and author of New Thought spiritual writings. She was inspired and influenced by Biblical teachings and the philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson. She was taught by Emma Curtis Hopkins, the New Thought "teacher of teachers" and a student of Christian Science. Cady associated with several prominent figures in the New Thought movement of the time and Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity Church.
For years Edgar Cayce, the most documented psychic of all time, provided a small group of individuals with lessons in soul growth and personal transformation. This volume presents a new look at those major principles. From the first lesson on cooperation through others on ideals, patience, oneness and love, this book provides specific tools for personal and spiritual development. The Cayce information suggests that each individual has a definite purpose for living. There is also the promise that with a spiritual intent we can come to understand that purpose. We are all here for a reason, a reason that joins us in search of a common heritage. Presented here are insights for awakening to our spiritual nature and to an awareness of the purpose of the soul. Edgar Cayce’s Twelve Lessons in Personal Spirituality is designed as a tool for personal reflection, as a handbook for small group discussion, and even as a source of encouragement during those moments when the challenges of life seem more overwhelming than the beauty of it. For though we may be separated by language, or religion, or customs, or race, or even vast distances, we all share the earth as our temporal home, we are all Children of the same God, and we are all seekers along the way.

How can children 'develop' spiritually and how do their teachers know when 'development' has occurred? This volume traces the roots and growth of school worship and spiritual development from Victorian times and earlier through the 1960s and beyond in order to see how we have reached the present situation. The subject is examined in various contexts: its historical and cultural background; politics and legislation; philosophy and values; curriculum development. The book addresses the problem of how to define spiritual development and the contentious issue of compulsory school worship. It offers new insights and a thesis for the way forward.

The School of Spiritual Science and its individual sections was initiated by Rudolf Steiner at the Christmas Conference (1923-1924). His intention, in his own words, was to present "the esoteric aspect." It was to have three classes, though only the First Class was instituted before Steiner's death in 1925. Recently, the written records on which the teaching of the First Class is based have been published in both German and English, which has given rise to a number of questions. Consequently, the council of the General Anthroposophical Society in Dornach, Switzerland, commissioned Johannes Kiersch to write a history of this unique organization. The result is an overview of the First Class and its development, from the early esotericism developed by Rudolf Steiner while still connected with the Theosophical Society, to the period following World War II. The author provides individual commentaries on the first "mediators" of the school, including Lili Kolisko, Harry Collison, and Count Polzer-Hoditz. The book also presents some thirty-seven original documents in an extensive appendix, which features personal notes, letters, and speeches connected with the Esoteric School. A History of the School of Spiritual Science presents a balanced history of the birth and development of the First Class and its struggles through the controversial splits and conflicts that followed Steiner's death. As Kiersch states, "The aim has been, above all, to come as close as possible to the sources and offer historical material for individuals to form their own opinion." C O N T E N T S Preface 1. Everyone would have a fulfilling and successful life. By successful I mean a success that comes from inner fulfilment. The feeling you get when giving love and compassion for others. Showing joy and sharing it with others. The feeling of knowing your life has a purpose, and having a strong connection to the Universe, where you feel a sense of belonging. I have written a story about life situations for each Spiritual law.
